Supacat Congratulates the Gumpathon Team

Wednesday 17th November 2010

As a proud sponsor of the Gumpathon, Supacat sends its congratulations to the team on their outstanding achievement The Gumpathon team completed their 3530 mile run from New York City to Los Angeles, arriving 11 November at Santa Monica Pier to a well deserved heroes welcome.

Each of the six runners, all current or former service personnel, covered 16 miles in relay formation, completing over 60 miles a day. Inspired by Forest Gump's epic run across America, The Gumpathon is the brain-child of Colour Sergeant Damian Todd, Royal Marines, who decided to go ahead with the idea after a close friend was left severely disabled following a tour in Afganistan.

The Gumpathon has succeeded in raising over £100,000 to be channeld through Help for Heroes (H4H) and the US Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund to support wounded and ill members of the Armed Forces, and their families, throughout their recovery period.

Supacat's Sales and Marketing Manager, Jamie Clarke said: "as sponsors, we are delighted to be associated with this incredible event. What the team has achieved is nothing short of amazing. In particular, Royal Marine and triple amputee Mark Ormrod has impressed us all. It was not long ago that he was told he would never walk again. Now, he's run across America! Well done to everyone involved in the Gumpathon".
