Supacat's HMT vehicle endorsed by UK MoD's 72 Jackal order Supacat's specialist High Mobility Transport (HMT) vehicle received a further endorsement last week when the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) placed an additional production order for 72 Jackal vehicles.

Jackal was designed and developed by Supacat with the production vehicles being built by Babcock Marine. The order brings the total Jackals on order to MoD to 202 vehicles, demonstrating its confidence in the vehicle's performance in the specific conditions encountered in service with the British Army in Afghanistan in replacing the WMIK Land Rover. Jackal was designed and developed as one of Supacat's stable of HMT (High Mobility Transport) vehicles, of which there are currently a total of 390 HMT vehicles on order or in service worldwide.

Nick Ames, Managing Director of Supacat Ltd, said, "The UK MOD has shown confidence in Supacat's HMT series with this second order for the Jackal. We continue to apply our unique design skills in high mobility, all terrain transport to meet the future needs of our armed forces." Supacat designed and developed the HMT series, including Jackal, over several years at its facilities in Devon, UK, the UK centre of excellence in specialist high mobility vehicle design and engineering.

Supacat continues to design a range of vehicles, customizing them to meet the specific needs of military and civil customers. Its latest generation HMT 400 vehicle is the 4x4 Extenda (E), which is reconfigurable from 4x4 to 6x6, or vice versa, using an ‘Extenda' third axle module. This can be re-roled within hours for different missions depending on operational need and was first publicly displayed at DVD and Eurosatory 08.-ends-
